Tyjae Spears Scores Twice In Week 18 Win

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed three times for 25 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Week 18 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Derrick Henry likely heading to a new organization this offseason, Spears could find himself as the team's RB1 in 2024. That said, Tennessee will surely add competition to the backfield, so this is a situation worth monitoring. Either way, it was a great performance for the rookie to close out his debut season.

Tyjae Spears A Deep-League PPR Option

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has hauled in nine of his 12 targets for 56 yards over the last two weeks. Those games were played mostly by Ryan Tannehill, who could start in place of the injured Will Levis (foot) in the team's season finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Although Spears is far from a sure thing in fantasy football, he's earned over a 23% target share since Week 16. This makes him a low-end flex consideration in deep PPR leagues. His upside is limited, so he's not worth consideration in DFS GPP tournaments.

Tyjae Spears Tallies 29 Yards On Nine Touches In Loss

Tennessee Titans rookie running back Tyjae Spears rushed six times for no gain and caught three of his four targets for 29 yards in the Week 17 blowout loss to the Houston Texans. It was a disappointing performance for the rookie, but he's playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Spears could be the clear No. 1 running back in Tennessee next season, as there's a chance Derrick Henry is set to play in his final game for the organization on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Spears shouldn't be trusted in any leagues that extend to Week 18, but he'll be an interesting sleeper for fantasy football next year.

Tyjae Spears A Shaky Flex Option Against Texans

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has played second-fiddle to Derrick Henry this season, but he is the RB35 in PPR leagues through 16 weeks of action. He has hauled in 12 passes over the last three weeks, which makes him a viable PPR flex option in deep leagues against the Houston Texans In Week 17. In Week 15 against Houston, Derrick Henry posted ten total yards on 20 touches, so it'll be interesting to see if Tennessee opts to get Spears more involved this time around. Ultimately, Spears is far from a sure thing, but if fantasy managers are desperate for flex production, he's in consideration. Whether Will Levis (ankle) or Ryan Tannehill starts, he should be a factor as a receiver.

Tyjae Spears An RB3/Flex Option Against Seattle

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has flashed upside during his rookie season, but Derrick Henry has remained the primary back for the team in 2023. However, Henry is coming off one of the worst performances of his career, posting 15 total yards on 20 touches. With Henry showing clear signs of regression and the Titans being eliminated from playoff contention, they might opt to give Spears an enhanced role down the stretch. The Seattle Seahawks have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs, so Spears could make the most out of however many touches he gets. With Will Levis (ankle) potentially out of action, veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill might lean on Spears in the passing game, too. Although he should be avoided in shallow leagues, he can be flexed in deep leagues.

Tyjae Spears Finishes With A Team-High 30 Rushing Yards

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears finished with nine carries for a team-high 30 yards in Sunday's overtime loss to Houston. He added one catch for seven yards. Derrick Henry had one of the worst games of his career, amassing nine yards off 16 carries, so it didn't take much for anyone to be more productive. Although Henry didn't play the best in Week 15, it doesn't appear he will lose his starting job anytime soon, especially since he had two touchdowns in each of his previous three games entering Sunday's game. Of course, while Spears has had potent fantasy showings this season, he cannot be trusted in Week 16 versus the Seattle Seahawks.

Tyjae Spears Firmly On Deep-League Fantasy Radar In Week 15

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has posted 104 rushing yards on 23 carries and 102 yards on 10 receptions over the last two weeks. In PPR leagues, he's finished as the RB16 and RB13 during that span. After two strong performances, he's back on the fantasy radar. Although his floor is low given his varying workload, Tennessee will likely continue to feature him down the stretch. Derrick Henry's rushing efficiency has declined, and Spears has been a reliable receiver for rookie Will Levis. Consider Spears a mid-range RB3 against the Houston Texans in Week 15.

Tyjae Spears Picks Up 118 Yards In Shocking Win

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears aided the team's stunning 28-27 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 14, rushing seven times for 29 yards with six receptions on eight targets for 89 yards. Negative game script favored Spears' receiving ability on Monday night, as the Titans found themselves on the comeback trail during the late stages of this game. The 22-year-old rookie may not have ended up drawing a spot start as a hot fantasy add after teammate Derrick Henry entered concussion protocol last Sunday, but he wound up churning out a season-high 118 scrimmage yards as Henry sputtered for 32 yards on the ground. Spears next takes on the Houston Texans, who Breece Hall just roughed up for eight catches and 86 yards in the receiving department during Week 14.

Tyjae Spears A Deep-League Option On Monday Night

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed a career-high 16 times for 75 yards and caught four of his six targets for 13 yards in last week's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Derrick Henry exited the game to be checked for a concussion but did not enter concussion protocol and is good to go. However, Spears will likely see a decent workload behind Henry if the Miami Dolphins get out to a big lead. Spears is the superior receiver, and he has often been on the field when Tennessee is facing a negative game script. The rookie does not have a high floor, but he can be utilized as a low-end PPR flex play on Monday Night Football. The Dolphins are nearly two-touchdown favorites in this AFC matchup, so don't be surprised if Spears posts around a 50% snap share.

Tyjae Spears Logs 20 Touches In Week 13 Loss

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed 16 times for 75 yards and caught four of his six targets for 13 yards in the Week 13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Superstar running back Derrick Henry (concussion) left the game in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion, leading to Spears operating as the clear lead back. If Henry can't play next week against the Miami Dolphins, Spears would have flex appeal in 12-plus team leagues.

Tyjae Spears Has Low-End Deep-League Flex Appeal

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has not been a factor in fantasy football lately, but his best game of the season came against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13. In the Week 5 meeting in Indianapolis, Spears rushed seven times for 34 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 35 yards. That said, Spears' role has changed week-to-week, so there's no reason to trust him in 12-team leagues. However, deep-league fantasy managers can utilize him as a desperation flex play. With six teams on a bye this week, he's a viable option in fantasy lineups. A ton of targets or a touchdown could set him up for double-digit fantasy points.

Tyjae Spears Sees Just Three Touches In Win

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed just two times for six yards and caught one pass for one yard in the Week 12 win over the Carolina Panthers. Spears played on 51.6% of the team's offensive snaps heading into Week 12, but he has rarely been a fantasy-viable flex option. This was his lowest number of touches of the season, so he's clearly falling off the fantasy radar. He's still worth monitoring moving forward and stashing as Derrick Henry's backup, but he's no longer a legitimate flex consideration.

Tyjae Spears A Deep-League Dart Throw

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has rushed 48 times for 248 yards and a touchdown and caught 28 passes for 178 yards. The rookie has posted at least a 50% snap share in seven of ten games this season, but that hasn't given him weekly fantasy value. However, the Titans are set to face the Carolina Panthers, who have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Derrick Henry (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Although there's no indication he'll be out for Week 12, Spears would have RB1 upside if he's absent. Assuming Henry does suit up, consider Spears a low-end flex play for deep-league fantasy managers.

Tyjae Spears Used Sparingly In Blowout Loss To Jacksonville

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears carried the ball four times for 14 yards and added two catches for 12 yards in the team's 34-14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Starting running back Derrick Henry only picked up 11 touches of his own in this contest. The Titans, under the direction of rookie quarterback Will Levis, were unable to string together successful drives. Thus, they only possessed the ball for 23 minutes of the game clock. By the time they put together their first touchdown drive, the score was 27-0. The offense is regressing after the hot start Levis had in his first couple of professional appearances. Henry and DeAndre Hopkins will be the only Titans in the starting conversation when they host the Carolina Panthers in Week 12.

Tyjae Spears Tallies 60 Yards In Loss

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed five times for 18 yards and caught four of his five targets for 42 yards in the Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The rookie ball carrier's 60 yards from scrimmage was second among Titans players, only behind wide receiver Kyle Philips (61 yards). Spears appears to be more explosive and efficient than Derrick Henry at this point in their respective careers, but until Spears is given a consistent fantasy-relevant workload, it's tough to trust him in fantasy lineups. He should continue to be stashed as Henry's backup, especially in PPR leagues.

Nov 12, 2023 4:23 PM EST

Tyjae Spears Falling Off Fantasy Radar

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has played on 256 of the team's offensive snaps this season, which is just 23 snaps behind star ball carrier Derrick Henry. However, it has not translated to fantasy-viable production in recent weeks. In six of Spears' eight games, he has posted fewer than eight fantasy points (half-PPR). In Week 10, he'll face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game this season. All that said, Spears is not worth rolling the dice on in this spot.

Tyjae Spears Keeps Trending Down

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears didn't do much to help Week 9's 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, carrying the ball five times for 18 yards and catching four balls for four yards. Spears couldn't corral a slightly overthrown pass by quarterback Will Levis on a wheel route in the red zone near the end of the first half, closing his opening two periods with 22 scoreless yards on four touches. Not much else happened for the explosive 22-year-old rookie thereafter, and Spears' change-of-pace setup behind Derrick Henry renders him a volatile fantasy option while the veteran is healthy. Spears is managing just 6.7 touches for 40.3 yards per game without a touchdown across his last three weeks, with a 48-yard reception in Week 6 inflating his averages over this span. With four teams (three inside the top four in yards per game) on a Week 10 bye, the 2023 third-round pick could be in play as a viable RB3/flex on Nov. 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tyjae Spears Remains Deep League Dart Throw

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has rushed 34 times for 198 yards (5.8 YPC) and a touchdown and caught 18 of his 24 targets for 120 yards through the first seven games of his NFL career. The rookie looks explosive and has been efficient, but he doesn't have fantasy viability behind Derrick Henry every week. The Tulane product could see additional targets if DeAndre Hopkins (toe) is out for the Thursday Night contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, he would still have a low floor. Spears is best utilized as a deep league desperation flex play in PPR formats.

Tyjae Spears Looks Ready For Week 9

Tennessee Titans rookie running back Tyjae Spears (ankle) was listed as a full participant in Tuesday's walkthrough after being listed as limited on Monday's estimated injury report. The Titans are giving most of their injured players some extra rest on a short week as they prepare to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. Derrick Henry (ankle) is also on the Week 9 injury report and has been limited both days so far, but it would be a surprise if he wasn't active on Thursday evening. The 22-year-old Spears is a dynamic complement to King Henry in Tennessee's backfield, but fantasy managers continue to temper expectations on a weekly basis because of the limited touches he's been getting. The third-rounder hasn't eclipsed 50 rushing yards in a single game and has just one touchdown in his first seven NFL games, but he's averaging a healthy 5.8 yards per carry.

Tyjae Spears A Deep League Dice Roll

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears has turned 31 carries and 15 receptions into 282 yards through six games of his rookie campaign. The Tulane product has played on 51.3% of the Titans' offensive snaps this season, placing him on the fantasy radar. In Week 8, rookie second-rounder Will Levis is expected to start in relief of the injured Ryan Tannehill (ankle). There's a chance Tennessee will want to lean on Derrick Henry and Spears against the Atlanta Falcons as they ease Levis into action. Although Atlanta has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season, Spears remains a deep league desperation flex play. There's a chance Levis will target his fellow rookie in the passing game for easy competitions early on.
