Marvin Mims Jr. Now a Trade Candidate in Denver?
There is a new pecking order among Denver Broncos wide receivers after the team acquired Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins last week for three draft picks. Waddle could end up being the Broncos' WR1, ahead of Courtland Sutton, and his presence will definitely make playing time and targets hard to come by for Marvin Mims Jr. The Athletic's Nick Kosmider writes that the Broncos "aren't in any hurry to make a trade to thin the room," though, which includes Sutton, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant, and Mims. Injuries thinned the team's WR room late last year, so they "want to be more equipped for those potential setbacks." Although Waddle and Mims may have similar skill sets and roles on offense, Mims' ability to run the football out of the backfield, be a Pro Bowl return man on special teams, and operate as a big-play threat on offense "makes him a different weapon" than Waddle. Teams could be calling about a player like Mims, but Kosmider doesn't think a team with Super Bowl aspirations will pull the trigger. In dynasty and redraft leagues, Mims' stock will take a notable hit if he stays in Denver, however.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. improved as a pass-catcher in his second NFL season in 2024, when he caught 39 of his 52 targets for 503 yards and six touchdowns in 17 regular-season games. But the 23-year-old former second-rounder out of Oklahoma regressed in Year 3 in 2025, finishing with 37 catches on 51 targets for a career-low 322 yards and just one touchdown in 15 regular-season games. Mims did pace the Broncos' pass-catchers in their AFC Championship loss to the New England Patriots, but more often than not last year, he was the odd-man out in the passing attack behind Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and rookie Pat Bryant. Even tight end Evan Engram finished with more yardage than Mims in 2025. Mims has big-play abilities and is a two-time Pro Bowler on special teams, but on offense, he's likely to be inconsistent again in 2026 with limited playing time.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. is coming off his best performance of the season, after leading the team with eight receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday's overtime win over the Bills. If the Broncos and backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham are to have any success moving the ball against an attacking Patriots defense, Mims may once again be tasked with carrying a heavy workload. Patriots cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III match up well on paper against the bigger bodies of Courtland Sutton and Pat Bryant, so it could fall on the smaller, quicker Mims to provide an intermediate outlet for Stidham if New England continues to send extra bodies in the pass rush. Mims is RotoBaller's WR8 for the Conference Championship Round of playoff fantasy leagues, but he could be more valuable in Full-PPR formats.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. saw season highs in offensive snaps, targets, receptions, yards, and touchdowns in the team's Divisional Round win over the Bills. Denver seemed to come out of the gates with a clear gameplan, feeding rookie Pat Bryant (concussion) on the first three passing plays of the game. However, when Bryant was knocked from the game with an early concussion, it was Mims who became the focal point of the team's passing attack, finishing the game with a team-leading 93 yards on his eight receptions. Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. had a disappointing third year in the NFL, catching 37 of 51 targets for a career-low 322 yards and only one touchdown in 15 regular-season games. He added 12 rushing attempts for 78 yards and one touchdown. Last year, he caught only two more passes, but he went for 503 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 17 games. Mims, known as a big-play receiver, had just 8.7 yards per reception and 21.5 yards per game. He was a victim of quarterback Bo Nix spreading the ball around in 2025, and the emergence of both Troy Franklin and rookie Pat Bryant as receiving threats behind WR1 Courtland Sutton. Mims' only receiving score of the year came way back on Sept. 14, and he eclipsed 50 receiving yards just two times all year. Regardless of who Denver faces in the Divisional Round of the postseason, Mims will be a low-upside WR3/flex option for fantasy managers in playoff leagues.

Across 14 games in 2025, Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. has recorded 35 receptions for 312 yards and a touchdown on 48 targets. Mims Jr. has struggled to carve out a consistent role in the Denver offense for most of the season to this point. However, the 23-year-old played 47% of the Broncos' offensive snaps in Week 17, his highest snap share in any game since Week 1. He's also earned 13 targets over the last three weeks after seeing just four targets across four games played from Week 8 to Week 14. With Denver wideout Pat Bryant (concussion) battling a concussion, Mims Jr. could see his increased usage continue in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Mims Jr. is also one of the NFL's most explosive big-play threats in the open field, so he's a threat to turn even a small number of touches into big production. His stock could be on the rise heading into Week 18.

Mims was forced from the contest in the first half, hauling in his lone target for a gain of five yards. With teammate Pat Bryant (hamstring) already having been ruled out before the contest with an issue of his own, Denver would be pretty thin at wide receiver. With the former second-round pick on the sideline, fellow wideouts Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Michael Bandy figure to pick up some extra snaps. As it stands, Humphrey, Bandy, Courtland Sutton, and Troy Franklin are the only remaining WRs without an injury designation on the active roster.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. enjoyed an early-season stretch that saw him finish as a top 20 fantasy wideout in two of four weeks, topping out at WR8 in a Week 4 win over the Bengals. Over the past seven weeks, though, he has been a non-factor for fantasy, missing time with a concussion, and seeing little involvement since returning in Week 13. Heading into the first round of the fantasy playoffs, he no longer needs to be rostered, and he projects as RotoBaller's WR70 in a Week 15 matchup with a Packers defense that has been top-10 for most of the season at limiting opposing fantasy wide receivers.

Broncos to Get Marvin Mims Jr. More Involved?
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said on Monday that he wants to get wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. more involved in the offense, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. "We got to find more touches on the offensive side of the ball. And we'll do that," Payton said, adding that the coaching staff talked about it in a staff meeting. Mims caught his only target in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, gaining five yards. Although he was barely a factor on offense, Mims still made an impact, returning a punt 48 yards for a touchdown in the first half. The Broncos continue to say that they want to get the 23-year-old big-play threat more involved, but they've failed to do so, as he has only 25 catches for 247 yards and one TD on 35 targets through 14 weeks after he had a 39-503-6 line in 17 regular-season games in 2024. Mims is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, but the volume just has not been there while being behind Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and rookie Pat Bryant on the WR depth chart.

It's good news for a struggling Denver offense, but things won't get any easier this weekend against a tough KC defense that is coming off its bye.
