Purdy's performance was a solid "real football" one as the 49ers' offense looked unstoppable at times, but his numbers were a fantasy disappointment. Along with a pick-six, Purdy barely threw for 200 yards and only one touchdown, finishing as the QB20. Sunday, Purdy returns to Philadelphia for the first time since his elbow injury deflated the 49ers in their opening offensive drive of the 2022 NFC Championship Game. The Eagles' defense has been shockingly generous to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy, allowing 21.5 points per game which is good for second-worst in the league. Chalk that number up to Philly's pass-funnel defense -- which gives up the third-fewest rushing yards per game -- and opponents chasing points against the third-best offense in the league. At the same time, it's unlikely that the 49ers will be immune to these trends, as the over/under stands at 48 points. Due to byes for a few top QB options and a potential shootout, elevate Purdy to upper mid-tier QB1 status in Week 13.

However, it was a lackluster performance from a fantasy perspective, as Purdy completed 21 of 30 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Purdy entered the game having just completed two consecutive three-touchdown, zero-interception games but could not replicate them against Seattle. Nor did he need to. Running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel combined for three rushing touchdowns as Purdy led a dominant offensive unit down the field almost at will in the first half. In a Week 10 home matchup against Washington they allowed Sam Howell to put up 28.1 fantasy points but last week in Los Angeles held Matthew Stafford to 10.4 points, although WR1 Cooper Kupp missed most of the game with an injury. Purdy checks into Week 12 with all of his weapons healthy as a decent starting option in all league sizes.

The second-year slinger out of Iowa State completed 21 of 25 passes for 333 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also gained 14 yards rushing on four scrambles. Purdy effectively picked apart a vulnerable Bucs pass defense, efficiently finding the open man while minimizing risky throws. His quarterback rating today of 158.3 equals the highest rating possible. Tom Brady and Josh Allen are the only other two quarterbacks to achieve that number in the past three years. Purdy and the 49ers will prepare for a quick turnaround as they travel to Seattle to take on the division-rival Seahawks on Thanksgiving night.

The fact that Purdy entered the protocol on Wednesday makes him a long shot to suit up on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, which means Sam Darnold would be the presumptive starter for San Francisco. Purdy has been under some scrutiny over the last two weeks, both 49ers' losses, due to his decision-making and execution in the fourth quarter but he is a much better option to lead the San Francisco offense, due to his experience, than Darnold, who is playing on his third team in the last four years. Purdy entered this contest having just completed a decisive victory against Dallas that prompted analysts to place Purdy in MVP conversations. Those talks will be put on ice after he completed only 12 of 27 passes for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one interception today. He added three carries for seven yards on the ground. Cleveland pressured Purdy into multiple misfires, overthrowing open receivers on more than one occasion. Fantasy managers shouldn't panic though, as one gets the sense that most NFL quarterbacks would have also found it rough sledding against the Browns. Purdy and the San Francisco offense will face a much less difficult matchup in Week 7 when they'll take on a mediocre Vikings pass defense in Minneapolis.
